Registrar, Te Manawa
Te Manawa is one of New Zealand’s distinguished and premier regional attractions in the Manawatū. A cultural museum of art, science and history, Te Manawa provides visitors an interactive experience with immersive exhibitions, events, public and educational programmes for national and international visitors. It is a showcase and store-house of the region’s nationally significant taonga, contemporary art, science and heritage collections and has the official, internationally recognised, New Zealand Rugby Museum housed within the same building.
Te Manawa Museums Trust is seeking an experienced Registrar to join a highly motivated team working in a unique environment and involved in providing outstanding exhibitions to the community. Key responsibilities include management of the collections, in particular the art collection, co-ordinating and documenting incoming and outgoing loans, providing registration functions including condition reporting for incoming exhibitions and touring exhibitions generated by Te Manawa.
Applicants must have:
- Work experience in the registration operation of an art gallery, museum or similar institution;
- Experience with Vernon collection management software, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, record keeping systems and digital photography;
- Experience with preventative conservation principles and specialist packing methods;
- A commitment to best practice collection management;
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail;
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively;
- A full, clean driver’s licence and;
- A qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Museum Studies, Collections Management or Art History.

Customer Liaison Officer, Dunedin Public Art Gallery (610/720)
Dunedin Public Art Gallery has never been busier, and is now on the lookout for an enthusiastic person with exceptional customer service skills to ensure the efficient running of our Gallery events.
The Customer Liaison Officer is responsible for assisting in the co-ordination and organising of hire functions whilst providing support to the Retail business area and members of the Art Gallery team.
We are looking for a proactive person with excellent people skills, who is a good communicator and team player. Furthermore, they will have experience in events management, hospitality, an interest in the Arts, a good understanding of AV equipment, exceptional organisational skills and have the ability to multi-task.
The hours of work are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday but some evening work may also be required.
It is a requirement of the role that job holders are physically capable of climbing stairs and frequently moving heavy furniture.

You’ll also monitor storage and display environments, providing monthly reports and researching and preparing information about object conservation.

You’ll prove that you’re creative, yet able to work within all sorts of constraints, and you won’t shy away from technology or the odd bit of heavy lifting. Your ability to multitask and methodical approach to precise detailed work will also come to the fore. And, as you’ll be working with a real mix of internal and external contacts, your polite, friendly and confident nature will be critical. Experience in a museum environment and a qualification in museum studies, history or applied arts is also essential.
