Visitor and Market Research Manager – Permanent (40 Hours per week)
Auckland Museum is seeking a Visitor and Market Research Manager to lead a programme of research and evaluation which includes the design and implementation of all exhibition, events and product evaluations, as well as the profiling visitors, and monitoring and projecting visitation. This is a pivotal role for the Museum at a time when the organisation is beginning a major gallery renewal programme and is depending upon visitor and market research to influence and inform any changes.
In the last eighteen months the Museum has built a solid foundation of research including the implementation of quarterly visitor profiling and completing customer segmentation research. The successful candidate will be innovative, able to think on his/her feet and enjoy implementing fast-paced research within limited budgets.
Applicants will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Postgraduate qualification in disciplines such as social science research, psychology, statistics or similar.
- High degree of knowledge and experience in applied social science research methods; the techniques of exhibition, programme and event evaluation; and the application of these methods to the development of a wide range of museum products.
- Can demonstrate having made a transformative organisational impact through the use of research and evaluation.
- Experience in designing and conducting a range of qualitative and quantitative research.
- Team Leader or managerial experience.
- Experience in contracting and managing external research companies.
- Experience in distilling complex results into simple form, and effectively communicating these results.
- Aware of the latest advances within international visitor studies research.
