  • Innovative Arts Educator

    Fixed term till June 2013 (possibility of a 3 year extension)

    Pataka Museum is seeking an innovative Arts Educator to be part of our education team. This full time teaching position requires an experienced and dynamic teacher who is able to teach with creativity within a gallery setting! To be successful in this role you need to be fully registered with a great working knowledge of the visual arts and other curriculum areas. Variety is the key to this position as you will be teaching at all levels including primary, secondary and tertiary programmes.
    We are looking for a cheerful and inspirational person who has the ability to design and implement innovative teaching programmes that will be based on exhibitions. You will also need to liaise with schools and teachers in promoting these programmes. The ideal person will be computer literate, an effective communicator and love being part of a team that makes art accessible, fun and educational.

    Director, City Gallery Wellington

    The Wellington Museums Trust is the largest grouping of arts, cultural, space-science and heritage attractions in Wellington; as such we make an important and lasting contribution to Wellington as New Zealand’s cultural capital. The Trust is a Council Controlled Organization and receives the majority of its funding from the Wellington City Council.

    We now seek applications for the position of Director, City Gallery Wellington.

    This is an important visual arts leadership role, and the new Director will have a vision for City Gallery that builds on its reputation as a leading contemporary art gallery.

    To be successful in this role you will have senior leadership experience within an art gallery or museum, a track record in visual art exhibitions, wide knowledge of contemporary visual arts and well-established collector, artist and gallery/museum networks. You will also have a commitment to understanding and meeting the expectations of audiences, and to working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve excellent outcomes for City Gallery and the Trust on a sustainable basis. You will have appropriate academic qualifications.
